One of the country’s most popular auto insurance companies is looking for employees to fill Austin sales jobs.
Progressive Car Insurance recently announced its plans to expand the company’s local claims and customer service operation by the beginning of next year. The plan will create 175 jobs for sales, customer service, and claims employees at the company’s contact center in Austin.
The Progressive center in Austin currently employs between 900 and 950 employees and is touted by company leaders as one of the company’s busiest sites. The center handles typical sales, customer service, and claims calls, as well as Progressive’s main bilingual service facility.
“The Austin contact center really represents what Austin’s all about,” Lynley Williams, senior recruiting manager for Progressive, told the Austin American-Statesman. “We used to be right off of Interstate 35, in a real small office, and we expanded and moved into the contact center off of Ben White about four or five years ago. That was a huge commitment … that we were going to have lots and lots of activity there, and we’ve stayed true to that.”
Progressive plans to hire a total of 875 new employees at its customer service and sales offices throughout the nation, including 175 workers in Austin, 260 employees in Cleveland, 240 workers in Tampa, and 200 employees in Colorado Springs. These jobs will pay about $13 to $15 per hour, and applicants should have at least two years of post-secondary education or two years of work experience in a customer service position. Some jobs are available for those who are bilingual in English and Spanish.
